H.E. Mr Milan MILANOVIĆ, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia to the UN and Other International Organizations at Geneva

  • From 1988 to 1993, Attaché, and then Third Secretary in the Department for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • From 1993 to 1998, Second Secretary in the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at the United Nations Office in Geneva.
  • From 1998 to 2001, Deputy, and then Acting Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • From 2001 to 2005, the First Counselor for economic issues at the Embassy of the FRY/Serbia and Montenegro in Paris and a representative at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and other international organizations based in Paris.
  • From 2005 to 2007, Director of the Department for the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • In 2006, he received the title of Ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • From 2007 to 2009, director of the Department for Partnership for Peace in the Sector for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • From 2009 to 2013, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations in New York in the capacity of Ambassador.
  • By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia from April 5, 2013, he was appointed as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador - permanent representative of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations and held that position until August 2020.
  • From 2020 to 2021, held the position of the Head of the United Nations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • By decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in December 2021, he was appointed Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs - Head of the Sector for Multilateral Cooperation.
  • By decree of the President of the Republic of Serbia on October 13, 2023, appointed to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary - Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva
  • He was born in 1959 in Pančevo. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Belgrade, he entered the diplomatic service of the then Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
  • Married to Maja, a mathematics professor, with whom he has two sons.
  • He speaks English and French.
